Violet, poached plum and stewed tamarillo notes overlay darker hints of blackberry and vanilla compote. The nose is completed by lovely smoky, earthy spice and hints of cocoa and cinnamon from the French oak barriques. Generous and juicy on the palate, this Pinot Noir has an elegant structure embracing a beautiful balance of berry fruit and savoury flavours. Smoky oak and firm, spicy tannins leading to a long, dry finish.

94 POINTS JULES TAYLOR ON THE QUIET PINOT NOIR 2023
"Once again Jules Taylor shows her proclivity for making fine wine with this example. Aromas an flavours of dark plum and balck cherry fruit set against a backdrop of barrel spice, baking spice and stony mineral qualities. A dry wine touches the palate briefly before the flavours and textures of baking spice laced red berry fruits race to the fore. Fine polished tannins and acidity set the structure of youth firmly in place. Well made (naturally) with best drinking from 2026 through 2033+."
CAMERON DOUGLAS, MASTER SOMMELIER
96 POINTS JULES TAYLOR ON THE QUIET MARLBOROUGH PINOT NOIR 2021
"Gorgeously ripe and perfumed, the bouquet shows dark plum, warm spice, violet, cedar and subtle game notes, leading to a concentrated palate that's succulent and fleshy. Generous and plush, while remaining harmonious and structured. Tannins are finely polished and in abundance, framing the wine seamlessly with a sustained engaging finish."
SAM KIM, WINE ORBIT
5 STARS JULES TAYLOR ON THE QUIET MARLBOROUGH PINOT NOIR 2021
"Made 'On The Quiet', the deeply coloured, purple-flushed 2021 vintage (5*) was grown in the Wrekin Vineyard, in the Southern Valleys. A powerful but already highly approachable red, it has concentrated, ripe cherry, plum and spice flavours, savoury notes adding complexity, and a long, well-structured finish. Set for a long life, it should be at its best 2026+."

94 POINTS JULES TAYLOR ON THE QUIET PINOT NOIR 2019
"From an excellent vintage this Wrekin Vineyard wine has a concentrated, ripe, varietal and fruity bouquet with aromas of dark almost black cherry and raspberry, smoky oak and toasty baking spices of vanilla and clove. On the palate - tense, ripe, poised, youthful, fruity and dry. Flavours of dark cherry and baked raspberry, velvet roses and plum. Tannins are firm and youthful with a coarse satin texture, medium+ acidity and lengthy finish. A wine that is best in your cellar till late 2021/early 2022 and will reward through 2028+."
CAMERON DOUGLAS, MASTER SOMMELIER
5 STARS JULES TAYLOR ON THE QUIET PINOT NOIR 2019
"Made ‘On The Quiet’, the bold 2019 vintage (5*) has a certain ‘Wow!’ factor. Matured for nine months in French oak barriques, it has dark, purple-flushed colour. Almost Syrah-like, it is packed with plummy, spicy flavours, but retains gracefulness, with fine, supple tannins. Likely to be long-lived, it should be at its best 2023+."

VINEYARD NOTES
The grapes for this Pinot Noir were grown organically and biodynamically on the Wrekin Vineyard which lies in Marlborough’s Brancott Valley. Positioned on northwestern facing slopes, set in deep clay soils, this charming little vineyard was carefully managed to provide a very low-yielding, highly concentrated crop of a mix of quality Pinot Noir clones: 115, 667, 777, 10/5 and Abel.
