Jules Taylor Wines

Sauvignon Blanc 2009

When Jules talks about Sauvignon Blanc, clouds part and celestial choirs sing.

This is the wine Jules loves because it is so expressive of the site that it’s grown. Our Sauvignon Blanc has twice won Champion Sauvignon Blanc trophy at the Air New Zealand Wine Awards - possibly a reasonable feat.

Winemakers notes

This wine has a delightful light lime colour and the palate is ripe, mouthfilling and has lingering intensity. It has flavours of tropical fruits and currants, rolling out to a dry finish. Complimentary aromas of black currant, passionfruit and jalapeno peppers spill from the glass along with hints of citrus.

Vinification

The majority of the fruit for this Sauvignon Blanc was grown in Marlborough’s Awatere Valley with complimentary fruit from the lower Wairau Valley. Preferring to let the fruit do the talking, the winemaking for all vineyard parcels was kept simple. The grapes were harvested, pressed and cold settled then after racking off juice lees, enjoyed a long, cool fermentation. The components were then blended, stabilised and bottled with a screw cap closure to retain freshness.
