Rosé 2011

This is the wine that’s our least serious wine. It’s not serious in nature – it is serious in flavour.

Our favourite lunchtime wine, the one that you can drink and not question. It’s the condensation-beaded glass, fruit sweetness and that glorious blush redolent of a setting sun on a warm summer’s evening.

Winemakers notes

This wine has the vibrant hues of ripe tamarillo. Lying under aromas of fresh summer berries this wine is loaded with wonderfully intense raspberry and strawberry flavours, these roll out to a lovely lingering fruit filled finish.

Vinification

Every JT Rosé begins it's life in the middle of the night. The merlot grapes from Gisborne were harvested in the cool temperatures of the first few hours of the day. At the winery the grapes were quickly crushed and the juice was held in contact with the skins to allow the vibrant red colours and delightful aromas to infuse into the juice. The crushed berries were then gently pressed and the resulting juice allowed to settle for 48 hours. After a long, cool fermentation this wine has had a light filtration to enhance its brightness, then was bottled & sealed with a screw cap to lock in the fresh fruit flavours.
