The decision on when to start harvesting is probably the single most important decision Jules makes each year. As she says, you only get one shot at it so you need to get it right!
After quite a few weeks of careful monitoring of flavour and sugar ripeness, the call was finally made yesterday! The first block to be harvested was the Wrekin Chardonnay vineyard located in the Brancott Valley sub region of Marlborough. This will be closely followed by the Wright’s family Pinot Gris and more Chardonnay from the Meadowbank vineyard in the Taylor Pass area.
Now let's keep those fingers crossed for the weather to behave in the next few weeks, until the last of the fruit is safely tucked away at the winery.
